Peking duck

The Peking duck originates from China and is therefore especially well known in Asian cuisine. The duck is characterized by its white plumage with an orange beak and legs. In terms of housing, the ducks are kept on straw or litter bedding. Their feed mainly consists of grains. In Europe, most Peking ducks are raised in Poland and Hungary.

The duck is known for its robust appearance and rapid growth. The meat is characterized by a light red color and a relatively high fat content. A Peking duck weighs between 1,800 and 2,600 grams when oven-ready. It is slaughtered at approximately 6 weeks of age. Peking duck is available whole, as well as in cuts, fillet, or leg (cuisse).
